Rayitos de Sol Celebrates One Year in Our New Home!

With summer quickly approaching, we’re celebrating a major milestone—Rayitos de Sol’s first full year operating out of our new facility in Milbridge! Over the past twelve months, our bilingual childcare program has grown into its new larger space where children learn, play, and thrive.

A Year Full of Celebrations

At Rayitos de Sol, we honor the traditions of our families and neighbors in order to help children feel connected to their community and heritage. Throughout the year, we’ve celebrated:

  • Easter with a visit from the Easter Bunny

  • Halloween with costumes and spooky fun

  • Christmas with festive activities and a visit from Santa

  • Día de los Muertos, where children celebrated loved ones that have passed on, made beautiful ofrendas and art

  • Children’s Day, a joyful celebration of our little ones and all they bring to our community

These special events bring families together and create lasting memories for our kiddos.

Exploring the Outdoors

Rain, shine, or snow—our kiddos love getting outside! Whether it’s free play in our outdoor areas or adventures beyond our playground, nature has been a big part of our year.

We’ve taken field trips to:

  • Milbridge Commons to explore and play

  • Cherryfield for an exciting day of sledding

  • The Milbridge library to foster a love of books and literature

  • EDGE activities, where children tried snowshoeing and ice skating—many for the first time!

These experiences give children opportunities to move their bodies, build confidence, and connect with the world around them.

Creative Expression Through Art

Art is a daily part of life at Rayitos de Sol. Through painting, drawing, building, and more, children have explored many different ways to express themselves and share their ideas. We’re proud of how they use creativity to tell their stories and connect with others.

A Mother’s Day to Remember

One of the most heartfelt moments of the year was our Mother’s Day presentation, where children performed a special dance choreographed by both teachers and parents. Families came together to celebrate the love and care that make our community so strong.

Growing Minds and Gardens

This spring, we’ve been planting seeds—literally and figuratively! Children started beans and sunflowers in our classroom garden, and soon, they’ll replant them outside to watch them grow throughout the summer. Gardening has become a hands-on way to teach responsibility, patience, and connection to nature.

Getting Ready for Summer: Rayitos de Verano

We’re now looking ahead to Rayitos de Verano, our bilingual summer program packed with learning, outdoor play, and exploration. Last year’s summer program was a hit, and we can’t wait to welcome new and returning families for another season of fun and discovery!

You can help us keep growing!

Rayitos de Sol is more than a childcare center—it’s a place where children and families feel seen, heard, and supported. As we celebrate our first year in this new space, we’re also working hard to continue growing and serving more families.

If you would like to contribute to the future of Rayitos de Sol, please consider giving to support out work. Every gift helps us create a brighter future for our children and our community.
