Volunteer with Mano en Mano
As a community organization, Mano en Mano appreciates the help and support of its community members in every aspect of our work. Volunteering is important as it helps expand the scope of what we are able to do while making use of the wealth of expertise and experience that already exists here in Downeast Maine.
In addition to providing support at larger events and activities (found here on the calendar) we will periodically update this page with volunteer positions based on specific needs in our community.
All volunteers who work will children are required to obtain or maintain a Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) with the Maine Department of Education. These costs are reimbursable by Mano en Mano if needed.
Volunteer Child Care Provider
Mano en Mano is seeking individuals to provide child care during Nuestra Voz en la Comunidad meetings. Members of this community leadership group have highlighted child care as something needed to facilitate participation in meetings, which take place one evening per month. While child care will be the primary focus of this position, the ability to create educational opportunities is also desired. Ideal volunteers will be able to work with all ages, especially small children. Interested candidates should fill out the volunteer interest form below and must complete a Criminal History Record Check.
Field Trip Chaperone
Students in the Migrant Education Program frequently attend field trips to local events and institutions. These trips support migrant students in their learning and engagement both during the regular school year and summer vacation. Each trip must have two adults present, one of which will be a Mano en Mano staff member. While no formal experience in education is required, volunteers for this position should enjoy working with older students. Some recent field trips include the Common Ground Country Fair and the Maine Forest and Logging Museum. Interested candidates should fill out our volunteer interest form and must complete a Criminal History Record Check.
