Student Activities this Winter

This winter Mano en Mano supported students of all ages access educational opportunities, support and programming!

Students at our tour of Colby College

Please read more about the different activities we ran this winter:

College Trip

Students interested in learning more about educational opportunities after high school visited Colby College in Waterville to learn about the campus, curriculum and the application process.  Students got to tour the campus, visit a dorm, and connect with Colby students to learn more.  In addition to organizing college visits, our team will support students interested in applying for college to learn more about the application process, financial aid and the FAFSA application.

Computer Classes

We continued to offer adult computer classes in Spanish through our partnership with the Sunrise County Economic Council and the National Digital Equity Center.  This month, students guided the content of the class, and requested support in using Gmail more effectively.  These classes are completely free and open to all community members. We will continue to offer classes in Spanish and French, and select content based on community feedback. If you would like more information or would like to sign up for classes, please call the Mano en Mano office (207 546 3006 ) or enroll online at  the Digital Equity Center website.

Pre-K Night

We invited families and kiddos to our office for a night of fun and learning!  Children enjoyed interactive games and a read-out-loud story time, while parents learned more about different activities and learning resources to help get their children ready to start preschool.

Painting and Pizza

To celebrate community and nurture artistic expression, we organized a Paint and Pizza family event in Indian Township.  At the event we welcomed more than 50 people and were able to share a meal, deepen relationships, and practice painting!

Learning Kits

Program coordinators of the Migrant Education Program prepared and distributed learning kits for students across our state! The kits are designed to provide students with educational and enrichment activities to enjoy over their winter break.  Kits included materials and instructions (Shredded paper, balloons, glue paint brushes, and paint) for students to make their own paper mache masterpiece!
