Spring at Rayitos de Sol

The sun is shining at Rayitos de Sol Bilingual Childcare!

Getting Creative! Children make their own flowers to celebrate Mothers Day!

As we continue work to expand our childcare facility, (read more here!) children at the center are continuing to learn and grow! This past spring, children were busy learning about the world around them and the changing of the season.  The theme was all things spring, and students learned about animals, plants and celebrations in our community.

Read more about some of the activities children participated in this spring.

Planting seeds for the future

Children have been learning about flowers and getting curious about how things grow.  This spring, children learned how to identify all of the different parts of plants through singing, drawing and planting their own sunflower seeds to observe

Getting a Closer Look

With the help of microscopes, children got an up close look at what is happening under the ground!  Children looked at insects, worms, and soil with microscopes, and used their senses to make observations about the world around them.

Birds Galore!

The outdoor play area got a new bird feeder, and children have been learning about the different birds that visit each day.  Children were able paint their own bird houses to bring home, and learned about how birds make their nests and keep their eggs safe. They even got to learn about chickens and visit with some baby chicks.

Artists at Work

Art activities this season included making flower sun catchers, nopales collages, and making picture frames to give to their mothers to celebrate Mothers Day!  In addition to picture frames, children celebrated their mothers and families by making cards and flowers.

As the sun continues to shine and the weather gets warmer, we will be spending more and more time outside, enjoying the summer sun.
