Celebrating 2022 Graduates

As the 2022 school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to celebrate two members of the Mano en Mano community who have graduated this spring.

Adriana Valencia is a recipient of the Julia Robiola Gigena Memorial Scholarship, and graduate of Husson University.  She obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, and is planning to continue her studies to achieve her dream of becoming an immigration lawyer.

  • Reflecting back on your time in high school, what is the accomplishment you are most proud of?

Throughout my college experience, I had the opportunity to accomplish many goals of mine. The accomplishment that I am most proud of is graduating with Magna Cum Laude.

  • What are your plans for next year? (Studying, working, traveling, etc)

After graduating college, I will begin working as a Behavioral Health Professional at KidsPeace in Ellsworth. From there, I will continue my education by attending law school to achieve my goal of practicing immigration law.

  • How did Mano en Mano and/or the Migrant Education Program (MEP) help you succeed?

Mano en Mano has made a huge impact in my life by providing me financial support through their Julia Robiola Gigena Memorial Scholarship.

  • Is there anyone you would like to add?

This incredible accomplishment of mine is "Para mis padres, que llegaron sin nada y me lo dieron todo."(“for my parents, who arrived with nothing, and gave me everything”)

Jared Tomah recently graduated from Calais high school. During this time he was part of the Migrant Education Program.  He is planning on joining the military after graduation where he will serve in the army.

  • Reflecting back on your time in high school, what is the accomplishment you are most proud of?

I am most proud of building trades and learning new skills.

  • What are your plans for next year? (Studying, working, traveling, etc)

My plans are to join the Army, and drive and operate combat vehicles

  • How did Mano en Mano and/or the Migrant Education Program (MEP) help you succeed?

The MEP program was an extra tool for me to succeed

  • What are you most looking forward to after high school/college?

I am looking forward to joining the military after graduation.

  • Is there anyone you would like to add?

I want to say thank-you to. Brother Chris
