Mano en Mano hosted a potluck in late February with a group of College of the Atlantic students in attendance to learn more about our organization and meet people in our community. Students from the Intercultural Education class at COA with professor Bonnie Tai drove to Milbridge and visited with the Milbridge Elementary School before coming to Mano en Mano. Staff met with the visiting students to talk about Mano en Mano’s history and our current projects to give students an idea of the different diverse communities in Maine and about our approaches to various educational programming.
The COA students then stayed for our potluck, with the addition of several students from COA’s Sustainable Business class, contributing delicious food, visiting with different families that attended, and having more informal conversations with staff. As always, we were pleased to host a group to get out the word about what we do and why, and also greatly appreciate the students’ interest and thoughtful questions posed during our discussion.
