Mano en Mano mourns the loss of Asia Wells

Our community mourns the loss of Asia Wells, who taught at the Blueberry Harvest School for three summers. Asia graduated from the University of Maine at Machias in 2015 and joined the team at the BHS that summer as a co-teacher. She returned each summer since then and was also working in local schools during the regular school year. Sadly, Asia passed away in a car accident on Thanksgiving weekend.

Asia was beloved and admired by her students and co-workers. She is remembered as an inspiring teacher who brought care, humor, and fun to her classroom. A field trip to Roque Bluffs State Park was a highlight from this summers' Bluberry Harvest School. Pictured below is Asia enjoying a moment on the beach with her students. Her memory will continue to inspire teachers, students, and everyone who knew her.
