Mano en Mano Hosts Film Forward
In early October, Mano en Mano had the opportunity to share a film through the program FILM FORWARD. FILM FORWARD is an international touring program of the Sundance Film Festival that offers film screenings, workshops and discussions with filmmakers, designed to foster dialogue and greater cultural understanding. FILM FORWARD is an initiative of the Sundance Institute and the President’s Committee on the Arts and humanities in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Mano en Mano had the privilege of screening “Under the Same Moon” (La Misma Luna), one of the film’s in this year’s rotation. The film focused on the story of a Mexican boy’s quest to find his mother in Los Angeles where she had migrated in order to support her family. We had a full house for the film viewing! Keith Eaton of Bar Harbor who helped coordinate the event through Film Forward also attended the screening, spoke about the film, and led a discussion about cultural pieces in the film afterward. We were very excited to partner with such a great organization and share this film with the community.
In the first week of October, many other films were screened in locations around Maine as a part of Film Forward, from Bar Harbor to Monson.
